Our guidance sets standards and defines quality for healthcare premises, while encouraging innovation. It has a long pedigree: Health Building Notes, Scottish Health Planning Notes and Health Technical Memoranda (and their predecessors) have been a source of knowledge and inspiration since the early 1960s.

Building on this tradition, Space for Health is here to help you:

  • re-configure and maintain existing facilities
  • plan and develop healthcare premises from scratch
  • design a single building
  • create a department or
  • configure an activity space.

Space for Health’s up-to-date, searchable, evidence-based information will enable you to keep on providing safe, cost-effective healthcare facilities. You can also use our information as a benchmark for assurance purposes.
